salaat

Waswasa during Salaat

Condition I am continuing to recite Surah An Nas before Namaaz. Though I have forgotten to do so on some occasions but I am still waiting to achieve the benefits thereof. Maybe my problem needs more intense treatment, I don't know.  Kindly advice. I have another problem to share with Hazrat (though not the last). Earlier I thought I should deal with each, one by one, but now I feel maybe this problem is contributing to the lack of success in the above matter. The fact is that I often conjure up situations in my mind where I see myself doing some good act. In the background I also place a third person, somebody very respected and noble, looking at my 'good' deed with praise and admiration written on his face! As soon as I become aware about it, I try to snap out of it but it keeps recurring specially during 'idle' periods. Oh, how can the 'khashiyat' & 'maarifat' of Allah Jalla Jala Laho enter such a contaminated heart! On the positive side, Alhumdulillah, I am regular with my morning zikr, my five times salaat, wearing sunnat dress during off hours & lowering the gaze. I am also glad to tell Hazrat that by the 'taufiq' of Allah Jalla Jala Laho  I have resumed reading Surah Yasin in the mornings & Surahs Sajda, Waqia & Mulk every evening. But the best part is that from 16th May I have commenced making up for the qadah salaats! I was foolishly deferring it to a time when I would achieve perfect 'khushu' in my salaat! Soliciting for Hazrat’s duas & advice. Answer This is an immediate solution, i.e. to recite Surah 'Annaas' before salaat.  Carry on with it. The actual, long term, solution is 2 fold: To gain the Ma'rifat (recognition) of Allaah Jalla Jala Laho. Then a person will know in front of Whom he is standing, this will result in the quality of namaaz being completely different! To do a 40 day course, at least, in the zhikr of Allaah Jalla Jala Laho , correctly and punctually! The ideal situation for this is to spend 40 days in the company of your Sheikh.   Before your namaaz think this may well be the last namaaz of my life! When lifting your hands in Takbier e tharima, think I am throwing the world, my work, office, home, etc. behind me and am surrendering to Allaah Jalla Jala Laho.   Ma'shaAllaah! May Allaah Jalla Jala Laho keep us steadfast, increase us all in all good and fully accept from us all. Aamien. Mubaarak!

Being timeous for Salaat

Condition Alhamdulillah since attending the Khanqah, Jamaat Salaah has become an aim for me but I get very confused sometimes. I am always late because I struggle with Wudhu etc.   Generally I try my best to make it even before Salaam and also sometimes get worked up trying to make it but if it happens that I miss Salaah tha I read Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Rajioon and make Istigfaar and know it was Allah Ta’ala’s will. Sometimes in my weakness I will become despondent but Allah Ta’ala calms me finally.   When we out with work or family and its Salaah time I show a lot of urgency to try and make it. Alhamdulillah and my family sometimes get upset and think I am performing. They tell me to be calm and we doing our best (and I really feel that I am calm, I am just pointing out that we have to get to the Masjid at this time before doing other things or we won’t make it. If  I don’t do this,  I feel we will become very negligent).   Am I right in sometimes getting edgy and worked up because I feel we not showing urgency for Salaah and I know we can only go with Allah Ta’ala’s Mercy to the Masjid but if we don’t make effort on our part or we making effort but in such a relaxed way that we miss Salaah than that’s not right either    Answer Try your best to plan yourself in such a way that you don't have to rush or to rush anyone else. Where latitude has been given, like on safr, use the latitude. Be hard on yourself, but not on others.

Missing Fajr Salaat, dificulty in waking up

Condition I have immense difficulty waking up on time in the morning for Fajr. Sometimes I will even sleep right through the alarm, without hearing a noise. I wish to start making it for takbeer- e-oolaa  for Salaatul Fajr and stop being a masbooq.   Answer Go to bed earlier, make sure you make qailulah! Put your alarm and try to ask somebody to pick you up, then you will know that you can't keep somebody waiting. Get the pamphlet the Madarash prepared on the importance of Fajr and with jamaat, read it every night before going to bed.

Thoughts in Salaat

Condition Alhamdulillah, Allah has granted us the opportunity once again to witness this beautiful month of Ramadhaan. My request and that of the family is for Hadhrat’s duas for our success in achieving the true objectives of this month and for it to be accepted. My nafsaani weakness has exposed itself at very onset of Ramadhaan. Last night during taraweeh salaah, concentration was very limited. My dunya objectives and other trivial matters played itself over and over again during salaah, despite trying a few times to direct my concentration. As I write this I cannot recall the details of the insignificant thoughts.   Answer Aamien! Make toubah and istighfaar and keep on trying.

Perfect Your Salaat

When performing Salaah, one should have certainty that Allah Ta'ala will reward him for performing Salaah. If an employee knows that the employer is going to pay him a salary then the employee will ensure that he does the job properly. On the other hand, if he doubts the employer he will do the job in a haphazard manner. In a certain locality the trustees of the Masjid were known for not paying the Imaam his salary, so the Imaam had doubted them. At the end of the month he did not receive his salary as expected, so he told them that he had lead the Salaah for the entire month without Wudhu. So, when a person is uncertain in regards to his payment, then his job is carried in an unprofessional manner as well. However, this is never the case with Allah Ta'ala. He will always reward a person in full, in fact much more than what one really deserves. One of the names of Allah Ta'ala is “Kareem”. Kareem is that being Who blesses or grants a person without him being worthy of such bounties. Kareem is that being who grants without any fear of his provisions being exhausted. Kareem is that being who grants you without asking and desiring. Kareem is that being that grants more than what we can expect of him. Therefore, when standing for Salaah one should have hope and certainty of being rewarded which is termed in the Hadith as “Imaanan Wa Ihtisaba.” Secondly, a person should perform his Salaah as though this is his final Salaah. Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, اذا قمت فى صلوتك فصلوا صلوة مودع When you stand for Salaah, then perform the Salaah of a person that is departing (from the world). By acting upon the above Hadith, the Salaah of a person will increase from 0-100 instantly. If the Salaah of a person is in order then the Deen of a person will also be corrected, therefore Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, الصلوة عماد الدين من اقامها فقد اقام الدين ومن هدمها فقد هدم الدين Salaah is a pillar of Deen, whoever establishes Salaah has established Deen, and whoever destroys Salaah has destroyed Deen. Salaah doesn’t only have an effect on one’s Deen but also has an effect on one’s daily activities. In  Nizamuddin Markaz, a certain person was responsible for serving water to the people. He happened to drop the water. Hadrat Maulana Ilyaas Saheb R.A. immediately remarked, “Your Salaah is not in order, therefore correct your Salaah.” Thirdly, certain Fuqaha (jurists) have written that a person should make an intention that he is fulfilling the command of Allah Ta'ala in every posture of Salaah. If a person makes this intention in all his activities then his twenty four hours of the day will become Deen to such an extent that one’s eating, sleeping, relations with his wife, etc.    Fourthly, Salaah is the Mi’raaj of a believer where he so to say meets Allah c and is in communication with his creator therefore one should not spoil such an occasion. IMPORTANT MASAA’IL OF SALAAH 1.Niyyat:- One should make Niyyat of Salaah and one should specify that he is performing the Fardh of Zuhr Salaah etc. However, Niyyat does not have to be made verbally as the place of Niyyat is the heart. Actions without any Niyyat is like a body without life. 2.Takbeer-e-Tahreema:- The first Takbeer that is uttered to enter Salaah is known as Takbeer-e-Tahreema. It is necessary for a person to say this Takbeer audibly to such an extent that he is able to hear himself. To recite the Takbeer in one’s mind is not sufficient. Many people that rush to join the Imaam in the Ruku posture do not say the Takbeer-e-Tahreema. The Salaah of such people will be invalid as the Takbeer-e-Tahreema is compulsory in Salaah. The Takbeers that are recited to move from one posture to the other is Sunnat. 3. Many people feel itchy during Salaah, whereas there was no sign of itchiness prior to Salaah. This problem is contagious and rubs onto other Musallis as well. If a person scratches a limb of the body in one Rukn thrice, then the Salaah of such a person is regarded as invalid. 4. There is a huge difference between Salaah and exercise, between fasting and not eating and between slaughtering an animal and Qurbani. If a person is performing Salaah, then Salaah will prevent a person from indulging in sin as Allah c states in the Quraan Sharif,  إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاء وَالْمُنكَرِ  Verily Salaah prevents a person from indecency and evil. If a person cannot abstain from evil, its an indication that one’s Salaah is not in order. In another verse Allah Ta'ala states, قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ The Mu’mineen have truly succeeded الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ Those that are humble in their Salaah. On the other hand Allah Ta'ala has issued warnings of destruction for certain Musallis. Allah Ta'ala states, فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ Destruction for those that perform Salaah. الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ Those who neglect (to perform) their Salaah. Many people state that we do not find the promises that have been mentioned for performing Salaah. When we haven’t ordered the goods from the store, how can we expect delivery? We are not discharging our Salaah correctly, so how can we expect the promises to be fulfilled? 5. When making Salaam we should make intention of the angels (Kiraaman Kaatibeen) on both sides, the Musallis on both sides and the Imaam on one of the sides. The best exercise for the heart is Salaam, therefore one should turn the head completely to the right and left. When the Musalli makes intention of the angels at the time of Salaah, Allah Ta'ala opens the system of the unseen for such a person. There are two systems that control the world. One is the system of Asbaab (cause and effect), where a person’s stomach is filled by eating etc. The system of the angels over ride this system. This system is such that when a person eats, the food is either of benefit or harm to a person. So by making Niyyat of Salaam to the angels, this system is opened before a person and he then places his trust on this system. 6. We should make a continuous effort to perfect our Salaah as Allah Ta'ala states, وَأَقِيمُواْ الصَّلاَةَ And perfect your Salaah May Allah Ta'ala grant us the Taufeeq of correcting our Salaah and grant us the Taufeeq of performing such Salaah that is pleasing to Him.

Four great verses from the Quran to be recited daily

Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim Hamidaw wa Muasllien wa Musallieman When Allah Ta'ala was going to reveal Surah Fatiha, Aayatul Kursi (2:255), the Ayah of Shahidallahu (3:18) and the Ayah of Qulillaahumma (3:26 - 3:27), these four auspicious revelations complained to Allah Ta'ala that You are going to reveal us to people who commit great sins.  Allâh Ta'ala said, I take an oath by my honour that whoever will recite you after every Fardh Salâh (after the Sunnah of those Salâh that have Sunnat-e-Muaqqadah after them), I will bless him with 4 favours: 1.   I will look at him 70 times a day with mercy (70 is to denote excessiveness) and will forgive all his sins 2.   I will grant him a place in Hadhieratul Quds, a special place in Jannatul Firdaus 3.   I will fulfil 70 (many/all) of his needs, the lowest of which will be poverty (in one narration) and depression (in another narration). 4.   I will protect him against his enemies and in fact, let him overpower his enemies. May Allah Ta’ala make it easy for all of us Inshallah.

Harms of Anger

Anger! There is no drink that is more beloved to Allah Ta’ala than the gulp of anger that one swallows. Obviously, this refers to that anger which one is able to exercise yet he swallows it. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “A powerful person is not one that is able to overpower another in wrestling, a powerful person is one who is able to swallow his anger when angry.” On the other hand, a person that gets angry, screams and swears is actually displaying his inferiority complex and weakness. One can be easily tested with one’s wife. In one Hadith Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “ When one is overpowered by anger due to his Nafs, it is compulsory for such a person to keep quiet.” An expert in the field of psychology had conducted a research on anger and concludes that anger is that evil of society that causes a person to lose his respect and honour to such an extent that one looks worse than an alcoholic. Harms of anger! A person that always gets angry with his family members at home is imitated and mocked at when he leaves home. Anger has an adverse effect on one’s nervous system, muscles, ligaments, etc. He is unable to think correctly and the memory of a person is affected. Anger is the translation of one’s nervous system and indicates that a person does not have control over himself. An angry person is always restless. According to the experts of yoga, anger and greed are such harmful diseases that they will destroy a person. In previous times, the elderly women would prevent a breastfeeding woman from feeding the infant in the state of anger as in doing so lies danger to the life of the child. Certain experts have stated that people suffering from anger die at an early age. Anger harms a person just as tobacco and high blood pressure harms a person. The conclusion of a seminar held by the heart association was that many people die at a young age due to enmity, jealousy and malice. Doctors agree that the physical condition of a person is governed by the mental condition. Remedies for anger! An angry person should recite Durood Sharif, which will cause him to completely cool down. If one is standing then he should sit down. If sitting, then he should lie down. One should also drink water when angry. Need for Islaah! From the above we understand that it is absolutely important for one to spiritually rectify himself. Those that do not take treatment from the Mashaaikh are actually destroying themselves. The purpose of taking spiritual treatment is not to remove the anger that is within a person, but to utilise one’s anger in the correct places. For example, If one’s anger is channelled in the correct direction then one will not get angry if the child happens to break a glass, but he will get angry if he is not performing Salaah. So, the anger is channelled
