Advices on the Completion of Bukhari Sharief

الحمد الله وكفى وسلام على عباده الذين اصطفى اما بعد فقد قال الله تبارك وتعالى مَا كَانَ لِبَشَرٍ أَنْ يُؤْتِيَهُ اللَّهُ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحُكْمَ وَالنُّبُوَّةَ ثُمَّ يَقُولَ لِلنَّاسِ كُونُوا عِبَاداً لِي مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَلَكِنْ كُونُوا رَبَّانِيِّينَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تُعَلِّمُونَ الْكِتَابَ وَبِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَدْرُسُونَ ) سورة اٰل عمران) وقال النبي صلّي الله عبيه وسلّم إن العلماء ورثة الأنبياء إن الأنبياء لم يورثوا دينارا ولا درهما إنما ورثوا العلم فمن أخذ به أخذ بحظ وافر (سنن الترمذي)   BECOME ALLAH WALA May Allah Ta'ala grant me the Taufeeq to say words that are beneficial for me, all of us and the Ummat at large. Thereafter, we should leave here with a new determination that we will now serve the Deen of Allah Ta'ala. This opportunity is afforded to us all the time, whether we are practically involved in the service of Deen or we are supports from behind. Our Sheikh Hadrat Maulana Shah Hakim Muhammad Akhtar Saheb R.A offers great advice for students that have completed the Aalim course. Allah Ta'ala states in the Quraan Sharif, It is not possible that Allah gives any human being a Book, wisdom (a Shariah) and Nabuwwah, and then he says to the people, “Leave Allah and worship me.” He would rather say, Become the people of your Rabb because you are teaching the Book and because you are studying it.” Allah Ta'ala addresses the Ulema that they should become Allah Wala on account of teaching and studying the Kitaab. A student studies Nahw, Sarf, Lughat, Adab, Tarjuma, Usool, Fiqh, Tafseer and Hadith until he finally completes his studies with Bukhari Sharif. The actual addressees of this verse were the Bani Israeel but we are also intended, as the Quraan Sharif was revealed for us (the Ummat of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and the Quraan Sharif is till the day of Qiyaamah.     You are graduating today but you haven’t completed your studies, as Maulana Ayub Surti Saheb has stated that you will not become ‘Faarigh-free’ rather you will now become ‘Mashghool-occupied.’ Our Sheikh R.A explains from a Bayaan of Maulana Gangohi R.A that Imaam Bukhari R.A has completed his Kitaab with the final Hadith which indicates towards Zikrullah, which means that you should now occupy yourself in the remembrance of Allah Ta'ala.    IKHLAAS Imaam Bukhari has taught us in the beginning of his Kitaab by bringing the Hadith of ‘Niyyat’ that the most important aspect for an Alim is Ikhlaas. May Allah Ta'ala bless us with Ikhlaas, to which there isn’t any end. This is similar to a person that is climbing a mountain, he thinks that he has reached the top, but when he gets to that particular point then he realises that there is a point that is higher, on reaching the second point he realises that there is a point even higher. Haji Imdaadullah Muhajir Makki Saheb R.A used to say that Ikhlaas comes towards the end of a person’s life after making great effort. We generally think that we have Ikhlaas but it is something that we really have to strive for. Hadrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi R.A stated, “Without straightening the shoes of the Ahlullah, one will not acquire Ikhlaas.” Hadrat Maulana Abraar-ul Haq Saheb R.A gave an example, that a fly sitting on the mirror seems like it is in the mirror but it is actually on the outside. Similarly, many think that they have Ikhlaas yet they are far from Ikhlaas. Some people outwardly show humbleness but such humbleness is actually a greater form of pride. May Allah Ta'ala grant us the reality of these things and bless us with Ikhlaas. Ameen! BENEFIT OF ESTABLISHING A CONNECTION WITH AHLULLAH Our objective is that we should become Allah Wala. Maulana Rumi R.A gives an example which I have heard from our Sheikh R.A on various occasions; that the grape vines which are for commercial purposes are not made to grow very high so that one acquires good quality grapes. The leaves and branches at the bottom are cut so that one may get the best quality grapes on top. The ant climbs to the top of the grape vine and lives on the leaves, nourishes itself on the leaves, until they have holes. This is when the farmer gets the leaves sprayed with chemicals to get rid of the ants. The little insect thinks that I have reached where I was supposed to have reached but it has only reached the leaves, if only it could get a taste of the grape. We after going through the Maktab level, Hifz, Aalim course, etc. are still on the leaves. We continue being on the leaves even though we may become Imaams, Khateebs, Ustaads, etc. Maulana Rumi R.A says, “If only the ant had a Sheikh that could direct it towards the grape, then what enjoyment wouldn’t the ant experience.” Now you have completed and will serve Deen, but go a centimetre forward and establish a relationship with the Ahlullah then you will get the juice of the love of Allah Ta'ala. When a person tastes this juice, then only will he know what Deen is all about. Maulana Hassan Dockrat Saheb D.B. took Bay’at to Hadrat Maulana Ayub Surtee Saheb D.B. received Khilaafat, and this Darul Uloom then came into existence. Hadrat Maulana Alimia Saheb R.A was that personality for whom the Arab world would sacrifice their lives. He was that personality for whom the Arabs performed Salaatul Janaazah in the Haram in his absence. Maulana said, “Allah Ta'ala took work from those that were connected with Mashaaikh whether they were from Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, etc.”  Having the potential of doing things which is referred to as Qaabiliyyat is a different thing and Qabuliyyat (acceptance) by Allah Ta'ala is something else. Qabiliyyat is important and in its place but Qabuliyyat will only come when you are with the accepted servants of Allah Ta'ala. I will request or rather demand if possible from Hadrat Maulana Hassan Docrat Saheb to have regular gatherings or Majalis for his students. MAULANA RUMI R.A Maulana Rumi R.A says that he would have never become Allah Wala if he had not established a connection with Sheikh Shams Tabrez R.A. Qari Tayyib Saheb R.A said, there are 3 Lughats for Molvi, some pronounce it as Mooli sahib which refers to raddish – a man who is not practicing on Deen, the other is Molvi Saheb (a person that studied the knowledge of Deen and is imparting knowledge of Deen) and the third is Mowlawi (Allah Wala). He has connection with Allah Ta'ala. This is where we have to reach. HIKMAH In the Quraan Sharif, Allah Ta'ala states that we had blessed Luqman A.S with Hikmah which is literally translated as wisdom. The first aspect of wisdom is that a person is blessed with correct knowledge. This is extremely important. Are we acquiring the correct knowledge by trying to acquire knowledge by surfing the internet? Some Mufti’s may give a Fatwa that getting married on the internet is correct whilst others may disapprove. However, all the Muftis of the world put together can never issue a Fatwa that one will get a child by being on the internet. One will acquire information over the net but he will never get the Noor of knowledge, as the Noor of knowledge is transferred from heart to heart. The Noor will only transfer when you remain in the companionship of the pious. This Madrasah of Hadrat Maulana Hassan Saheb will be too small very soon. May Allah Ta'ala grant Maulana a place where he can establish a Darul Iqaamah as well. We are aware of the environment at home and on the streets, it is therefore necessary for the students to remain fully in a Deeni environment to acquire the Noor.   MAINTAIN ISLAMIC DRESSING It is mentioned in Seeratul Mustafa of Maulana Idrees Saheb Khandelwi R.A. that when Islam began spreading far and wide, Hadrat Umar h wrote to the various authorities that they should not adorn the clothing of the people of the countries to which they are travelling. They should adorn the Sunnat and Islamic clothing. There are those people that state that if Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam  was sent as a Rasool to Europe then he would have worn a suit and tie, Allah forbid. If he was sent to another place, he would have adorned himself with the dressing of those people. The Quraan states that there is a perfect example for you in Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam , what Allah Ta'ala desired was found in Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam , whether internally or externally. Umar h also stated that the Jews, Christians and others shouldn’t adopt Islamic dressing. This means that a Muslim has his own uniform and should stick to his uniform. More important than the outward appearance is the heart, which should be revitalised. Making an effort of the heart is a continuous effort until death. TAFSEER AND HADITH CLASSES As a servant I would request every Alim to have Dars-e-Quraan and Dars-e-Hadith for the public at the Masjid or even at home. There is great benefit in doing so. The last word of Surah Naas is the word ‘Wan-Naas.’ In regards to this word, Hadrat Maulana Idrees Saheb Khandelvi R.A has stated, Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam  is reported to have said, ‘A time will soon come, as the people of Aad and Thamud were destroyed, my people will be destroyed.” This refers to such people that will discuss the Quraan Sharif, those that will discuss Deen and in fact present Deen in an extremely rosy and flowery way, but it will be everything besides Deen. This type of talks can be seen on ‘you tube’ recordings. Unfortunately, people are trapped with the quotations and flowery words and impressing presentations of these orators, in fact the women go crazy for such talks and even pay up to R1000 - R2000 to attend a single seminar. In a particular place in Bangladesh a Christian priest converted many people into Christianity to the extent that even the Imaam became a Christian. The Imaam was telling the people in the Jumuah Khutbah that Christianity is the correct religion. He also told his congregation that the name of Essa A.S is taken repeatedly in the Quraan whereas the name of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is taken on just a few occasions. They said, “Get hold of the priest, and told him that we may engage in debate with you and you may possibly win every debate but remember that success at the time of death is only in the Deen of Islam.” When they spoke to him with such conviction, he accepted Islam and all those that became Murtad also returned to the Deen of Islam. WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE ULEMA OF DEOBAND We are the children of Ulema-e-Deoband and should not shy away from our heritage. We are the ones that spoil the name of Ulema-e-Deoband but at the end of the day we are their children. I cannot elaborate on what the Ulema of Saudia, Morocco, Eygpt and various other parts of the world have to say about the Ulema of Deoband. We should therefore be careful that we do not change the form of Deen, nor should we fall prey to these people with their new acts of Deen. HOW TO REACH ALLAH TA'ALA Allah c has made it extremely easy to reach Him; In the Quraan Allah Ta'ala states, “Ar-Rahmaan, ask those that are informed.” If you want to know of Allah Ta'ala, find out from those that are informed of Allah Ta'ala. Hadrat Maulana Abdul Ghani Pulpoori R.A used to say, “Clothes are attained from people that sell clothes, sweetmeats from those that sell sweetmeats, and Allah Ta'ala is acquired from those that have Allah Ta'ala.” This is a simple mathematical equation. Go to the Ahlullah, and acquire Allah Ta'ala. THE SECOND MEANING OF HIKMAH The second meaning of ‘Hikmah’ refers to correct understanding. The Sahaaba acquired the correct understanding of Deen from Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam , who passed it onto Tabi’een, Tabe Taa’bieen and so forth until it has reached us. The true Sanad of the students is not when they pass their exam, rather it is what they learn from their Ustaads during the lesson, which their Ustaads acquired from their Ustaads. By sitting in front of their Ustaad, they acquire the temperament of their Ustaad. This temperament can never be acquired over the net. The temperament is acquired by sitting with the Ustaad personally. This temperament should then connect them to the Ulema of Deoband whether they are from India, Pakistan, South Africa, etc.   By searching the Ahadith on the computer and then discussing the meaning of the Hadith with a few individuals and finally reaching a conclusion is not Ilm-e-Saheeh but it is incorrect knowledge. This can be understood by an example. Your father is lying down on his bed at night. He calls out to you to bring water, how will you take the water? The water will be taken in a glass as he requires water for drinking. On a Sunday morning your father is standing next to his car with his sleeves rolled up and asks for water, how will you take the water? In a bucket, as he requires water to wash his car. If a person now reads the command “Bring me water” after 1400 years then he may take a bucket of water whilst the father is on the bed and a glass of water when he has to wash the car as he is unaware of the situation. This is the type of interpretation of Deen that is becoming common; people are getting their own interpretation of Deen. Finally we make Dua, May Allah Ta'ala take this institute and all others from strength to strength, May Allah Ta'ala accept us all for Deen, and take service of Deen throughout the length and breadth of the country.    ADVICES OF HADRAT MAULANA ABDUL HAMID SAHEB D.B. Rabia Basriah's Advices

Someone asked Hazrat Rabia Basriah R.A, “Why have you secluded yourself whereas people are benefitting from your advices?” She replied, “Where am I capable of rendering advice?” Then she recited some couplets which mean, People are becoming servants of their desires whilst those seeking the truth have decreased. People have worn garlands of base desires around their necks thinking that the world will never end. How amazing it is, that people are bowing to temporary powers and are indifferent to the Real Ruler. How unfortunate is he who is neglectful of Allah’s obedience, and makes his goal fulfilment of his carnal desires. O you neglectful soul! Is it good to bow down to many deities or to the One and only? How sad is the condition of the one that has entrusted himself to the obedience and loyalty of his desires that are going to end and is careless of the Owner of the day of Qiyamah. O you brainless person! All the connections and enjoyment which you have entangled yourself with are temporary and it is only the friendship of Allah Ta’ala that is permanent. O you neglectful one! Which enjoyment is it that has made you rebellious to your Merciful Master? The consequence of rebelliousness is being unsuccessful.  How long are you going to rebel against the Royal King Allah Ta’ala, who is the Master of your life and death?  When the message of death arrives, who will save you? Leave the grounds of comforts and enjoyment and become faithful to the Master of the heavens and the earth. Your honour and salvation lies in this. O you rebellious human being! The peace of your horizon is gone misty; your humanity is hidden in barbarism. Come out of this darkness into the light of A’amale Saliha. O you neglectful human being! You have slept very long, your negligence has reached its limits, now bathe in tears of remorse, and come into the garden of Allah’s pleasure. Remember! In the field of sins, there is an only thorn and in the straight path of Deen there are only flowers. Think! Are the flames of Jahannam better or the flowers of the gardens of Jannat better? After reading this couplet Hazrat Rabia Basriah R.A cried a lot and then kept silent. A wealthy man of Basrah asked if he could send Hazrat Rabia Basriah R.A. a supply of one year’s clothing and food. She replied, “If you can guarantee me that I will live for a year, then send it.” After saying this she busied herself in Nawafil Salaah.

Advices on the Completion of Mishkaat and Jalalain Sharif

GRADUATING FROM THE ALIM COURSE May Allah Ta’ala reward Ml Ahmad Pandor Saheb, the Asaatizah, all the donors, etc. that today we have Jalalain Sharif and Mishkaat Sharif being completed. In previous times, a student would graduate as an Alim by completing Mishkaat Sharif. It is only later that the six authentic books of Hadith were introduced into the Alim course. The student that completed Mishkaat Sharif would be regarded as a Faadhil, in our terms, one that has achieved a master degree or honours in PHD, this is just for us to understand else there isn’t any comparison between the two. Allah Ta’ala has blessed us with the Quraan Sharif which is such a great Kitaab but we don’t know how to make Shukr, neither do we have the tongue, heart or brains to express gratitude. Allah Ta’ala says, “Verily, We have revealed the Quraan and We are the protectors of the Quraan.” The protection of the Quraan doesn’t only refer to Hifz of the Quraan, and in actual fact, it is not the Hafiz that protects the Quraan rather the Quraan Sharif protects the Hafiz. In reality, Allah Ta’ala is Haafiz, Aalim, Mufti, but due to our studying the title is given to us as well. Now people address us as Hafiz Saheb, Maulana, Mufti, etc. Some people feel that there is Shirk in calling another human being Maulana, but the Quraan states, فان الله هو مولاه وجبريل وصالح المؤمنين Verily Allah is his (Rasulullah’s) protecting friend, and Jibraeel and the righteous believers. The righteous believers are also referred to as Maulana in this verse. In the Hadith Sharif, Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam told one of the Sahaaba R.A, “You are our Maula.” Hadrat Umar R.A. told Hadrat Hassan Basri R.A., “You are our Maulana.” There is therefore no harm in using this title. These students have completed Quraan Sharif, which is a Sifat of Allah Ta’ala. Allah Ta’ala is that being that is infinite, there is no ending point to any quality of Allah Ta’ala. We are therefore taught in the Dua to say, “O Allah! You are as You have praised yourself.” Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to make Dua saying, “O Allah! I have not recognised You as I ought to have recognised You.” Who can recognise Allah c more than Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam? Every quality of Allah Ta’ala is as great as Allah c, His knowledge, kindness, forgiveness, etc. cannot be comprehended by us. THE VIRTUE OF THIS UMMAT One great favour of Allah Ta’ala is that Allah Ta’ala has created the human being. The last Hadith of Mishkaat explains the virtue of this Ummat over the previous Ummats. Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is the Imaam of all the Ambiyaa, thus this Ummat is the leader of all the previous Ummats. In another narration of Mishkaat the example of this Ummat is mentioned, a person works from Fajr till Zuhr and receives one Qiraat as remuneration, another works from Zuhr until Asr and receives one Qiraat as remuneration, and a third person works from Asr until Maghrib and receives 2 Qiraat as remuneration. The first person refers to the Jews, the second refers to the Christians and the third is this Ummat of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. The lifespan of this Ummat is short, thus they work very little but earn the most. Once Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentioned three Ambiya of the past that have made Ibaadat and strived in the path of Allah for 1000 months; which caused the Sahaaba to be grieved as the lifespan of this Ummat is so short and therefore we will not be able to compete with them. On this occasion Surah Qadr was revealed, in which Allah c says that the night of Qadr is better than a thousand months. Maualana Thanvi r has written that if a person performs the Esha Salaah of the night of Qadr with Jamaat, he will certainly attain the reward of Lailatul Qadr. We should ensure that we are punctual with the Esha and Fajr Salaah with Jamaat throughout the year. By doing so, we will get the reward of spending every night in Ibaadat. CORRECTING OUR SALAAH We have just passed the month of Rajab, it is quite famous that the 27th of Rajab was the night when Me’raj had taken place. The sum total of Me’raj is Salaah which is a gift from Allah Ta’ala. Therefore, we should correct our Salaah in Rajab. There are 4 aspects of Salaah that I normally explain, the first being Wujood-e-Salaah which means that we should be punctual with the five daily Salaah, the second aspect pertains to our missed Salaah, we should try and cover up by performing our missed Salaah. A supplier withholds new order from the client; he doesn’t supply any goods until the previous balance is settled. How would Allah Ta’ala bless a person that does not perform his missed Salaah! May Allah Ta’ala save us from leaving the world in a state that we have outstanding Salaah. The third aspect pertains to the outward condition of our Salaah. The postures of Salaah are not correct, the manner we make Takbeer-e-Tahreema is not correct, etc. Lastly, the inner quality of Salaah is most important. We try and attain this condition, we endeavour to bring concentration into our Salaah  but very soon this is lost. Let us look at the level of concentration in the Salaah of our Akaabireen! Hadrat Madni R.A. was once performing Salaah at home where there was a creeper plant that was growing. A snake had appeared from the creeper plant which was above his head and was perhaps 30-50 cm away from his head. The ladies were unable to do much, so they called for some men from outside who killed the snake. Maulana was totally oblivious of the situation and continued with his Salaah. A few leaves of the creeper had fallen down, and due to Maulana’s particular interest in plants, he enquired as to who broke the leaves (when he completed his Salaah). He was then informed of the snake but remained cool and calm. What is our condition? How do we perform Salaah? If only we could get a single moment in which we can perform Salaah in this manner. This was Hadrat Madni’s daily practice. Hadrat Maulana Khair Muhammad Saheb Jaalandari R.A. had invited Hadrat Maulana Hussain Ahmad Madni Saheb R.A for a programme prior to the India and Pakistan partition. It was a lengthy journey and they had travelled through the night by train. The train had stopped at Fajr time to change engines which generally takes quite a bit of time. Hadrat led the Fajr Salaah in which he recited Alif Laam Meem Sajda and Surah Dahr, whilst performing their Salaah the conductor blew the whistle, waived the flag indicating that the train is about to depart and even called them to board. However, Hadrat continued with the Salaah. After Salaah, Hadrat was asked, “You could have shortened the Salaah yet you continued.” Hadrat replied that he was totally oblivious of the happenings around him. This is termed as concentration in Salaah. A BRIGHT FUTURE I see a bright future as far as Deen in concerned looking at the condition of our youngsters, Insha’Allah. Lately, a young Alim was involved in an accident, lost his wife and child, yet on the day of the Janaazah he went to classes to teach. Logically, a person stays at home at such a time. When I look at the young Ulema with great qualities, the work of Dawat and Tabligh, I see a bright future ahead Insha’Allah. There are evil people also, but those on the righteous path are truly progressing. There was a Jamaat working in the villages in India. As they entered one village, they heard plenty of swearing, shouting, screaming, etc. The Amir was a young person and enquired about the noise, but the guide said, “Dont worry about the noise, let us continue to the Masjid else we will get hurt amongst these people.” The Amir insisted that they go to the house. They found a young person that was addicted to alcohol, he was fastened down and therefore swearing his parents. They opened him, embraced him and took him to the Masjid saying, “You are our brother.” He was the first to give his name for forty days. We are seeing the dark side of things whereas I see a very bright future. In the 60’s, Mufti Shafi’ee Saheb R.A. came to South Africa and was hosted by the people of Krugersdorp as Azaadville was not in existence. When Mufti Saheb R.A. was leaving, the elderly people told him, “We fear that our children won’t remain upon Islam.” Around this period the Muslims were down globally to such an extent that things weren’t too bright even at the Haramain. Hadrat Mufti Saheb R.A. said, “There will be a Darul Uloom here, referring to the Krugersdorp / Azaadville area.”Today, the elderly people around say, “We are witnessing the Dua of Mufti Saheb r.” Allah Ta’ala had created the body in fact He created every part of the body. For the eye, there are so many specialists. Similarly, there are so many specialists that are responsible for attending to the needs of the heart. We were always told that cholesterol is not good. Today, doctors claim that cholesterol is an entire chemist comprising of so many things. We have our arteries, liver, kidneys, joints of the body, the nervous system, the digestive system, etc. Allah Ta’ala is the sole creator and controller of all these things. Nothing can function correctly without the permission of Allah, and if something goes wrong it cannot be corrected without the permission of Allah Ta’ala. Bhai Abdul Wahhab Saheb D.B. says, “When you go to your shop in the morning then say, my shop cannot do anything, only Allah can do.” The same should be done when taking medication. Allah doesn’t need Asbaab (means), He can do without Asbaab and He can do against Asbaab. A fire generally burns but was unable to burn Ibrahim Alaihis Salaam. This is an example of doing something against Asbaab. Alhamdulillah, the Tafseer of Quraan has been completed today. Our students and graduates are serving throughout the globe, May Allah Ta’ala accept these students as well. Today three students have completed, how many will graduate this year in Isipingo, Zakariyya, Azaadville, etc. When I graduated and returned to South Africa approximately 50 years ago, there wasn’t a single woman in Burqa. Today, even little girls are wearing Burqa. Umrah was hardly heard of, if someone made Umrah, he was referred to as Haji Saheb as he was perhaps the only one that went for Umrah. In those days, keeping a beard was a big thing. A man named Abdus Samad was addressed as Sam, whereas this is a serious issue. Samad is the name of Allah Ta’ala and we changed Allah’s name. Abdul Gaffaar used to be Gaf. Alhamdulillah, today the names of Sahaaba are being revived. There is a bright future. This institute and all other institutes, the Khanqahs, Tabligh Jamaats, Maraakiz, etc. indicate towards a very bright future Insha’Allah. Allah c has taken the responsibility to protect Islam and Allah Ta’ala is doing the work here at Madrasah Baitul Khair. Lessons of Tafseer and Hadith amongst many other sciences are being imparted. AHADITH EXPLAINS QURAAN The Ahadith are the explanation of the Qureaan Sharif. Imaam Shafi R.A. says that the Quraan is more in need of the Ahadith than what the Ahadith is in need of the Quraan Sharif. This is like the Kalimah ‘La Ilaha Illalla Muhammadur Rasulullah ’. A person will never reach ‘La Ilaha Illalla’ until he enters from the door of ‘Muhammad ur Rasulullah’, without ‘Muhammad ur Rasulullah’ a person will get involved in Shirk and Bid’aat. Similarly, a person cannot understand Quraan until he understands it in the light of Hadith. One Alim explained that there is a difference between Hadith and Sunnah. What is Sunnat and what is Hadith? We usually consider both these aspects as the same thing. I wish to also explain the importance of Sunnat in comparison to Hadith. In many Ahadith we will read “Alaikum bi sunnati Wa sunnatil khulafaair Rashidin,” “Man ahyah sunnati faqad ahyani.” There are many Riwayaat where Rasulullah g has commanded us to follow the Sunnat. Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, Hold firmly onto my Sunnat and the Sunnat of the rightly guided Khulafaa, hold onto it and bite onto it with the molars, and beware of inventing new things, for verily every invention is a Bid’ah, and every Bid’ah is misguidance In another Hadith, فمن أحيا سنتي فقد أحبني Whoever revives a Sunnat has certainly loved me We have been commanded to follow the Sunnat of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and hold firmly onto the Sunnat. We will not find a narration that states, “Hold firmly onto the Hadith.” There is a distinction between the two. The Sunnat, is established from the Ahadith. Sunnat refers to the lifelong way of life of Rasulullah g and the Hadith is the proof of this. Thereafter, we will find some Hadith contradicting the general way or habit of Rasulullah g. This is where many people make mistakes and follow the Hadith. LIFE LONG PRACTICE OF RASULULLAH SALALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM VERSUS AN ISOLOATED INCIDENT An example of this is that on one occasion Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam performed Salaah without a Topie. The reason for this was because he used the Topie as a Sutraa on that occasion. The daily lifelong practice, the Sunnah practice of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam was to perform Salaah with a topie. The Muhadditeen have written certain chapters in their Kitaabs discussing the Topie of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. If we have to apply logic to one occasion then we can consider this example, Our Imaam in this Masjid always wears his Topie, however whilst on a journey his two year old child removed his Topie and it flew out of the window of the vehicle. The time for Zuhr Salaah set in and he had to stop for Salaah but he does not have his Topie. Must he miss his Zuhr Salaah because he doesn’t have his Topie or must he perform Salaah without his Topie? He will perform Salaah without his Topie on this occasion. One of his Musallies saw him performing Salaah without Topie and decided he is going to follow this practice. This is the attitude of those that have the incorrect understanding or little or no understanding. They took an isolated incident and made it a practice. If a person insists that he wants to perform Salaah without a Topie, then he should remain in the state of Ihraam, because when one is in Ihraam then we are commanded by Allah Ta’ala to perform Salaah without a Topie. On another occasion Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam performed Salaah with shoes whereas he would normally perform Salaah without shoes. There are details with regard to the entrances of the Masajid during the time of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, that there was place for keeping one’s shoes. It was not only the practice of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam through out his life, but the practice of the whole Ummat to perform Salaah without shoes. In every country throughout the world, we will find shoe racks at the entrances. However, there is an isolated Hadith of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, where Rasulullah g performed Salaah with shoes, do we hold onto this one Hadith and cancel the major life practice of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, what type of logic is this? Once Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam had to stand and urinate. Due to this isolated incident, the lifelong practice of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is ignored. Is this regarded as common sense? Which type of following of Quraan and Hadith is this? This is when people are either doing things out of ignorance, or they are following their desires, or they are trying to be different. They will even show you proof from Bukhari Sharif. They will quote the page and volume number yet they discard the lifelong practice of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam.   The Hadith is to understand the Quraan Sharif. Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “I leave you with two things.” If you hold firm onto these two things you will never go astray after me. The one being Kitaabullah and the other is my Sunnat. However, it is beyond our capacity to understand Quraan Sharif directly. KNOWING THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND CONTEXT An example is that many people know that when I deliver a lecture I require water. If water was not arranged and I asked for water, what utensil will the water be given to me in, in a glass. If I had entered the toilet and there wasn’t any water, and I asked someone from inside the toilet to bring me water, in what will they bring it? They will bring it in a jug because it is for Istinja purposes. The person that is present would know exactly how to present the water on each occasion. If a person was not present, he would present water in a toilet jug for drinking and in a glass at the toilet. This is termed as circumstantial evidence. Therefore in order to understand Hadith, a person must know the circumstances and the situation. If we do not know this, then we will not understand the Hadith. Another example is, a father was about to leave the world. He had a son that was studying at university so he left behind a bequest for the son and added some advices to it, he said, “My first advice is that you must go to work in the shade and return in the shade. Secondly, you must eat the best food, and thirdly you must make a new Nikah every month.”  After reading the father’s bequest, the son built a shady cover from his house to his work. He would leave at approximately 11:00 for work and return late afternoon in the shade. Then he commanded his wife to cook the best of foods, as this was the father’s request. However the father’s third bequest was a bit difficult to carry out. How is he going to get married every month? He decided to consult with his father’s secretary. The secretary had spent a considerable amount of time in his father’s company and had understood the father’s temperament. The secretary told him, “You have not understood a single advice of your father’s” The first advice meant, “You should leave for work before sunrise and return after sunset.” That is, you should work very hard and tirelessly. The second advice meant, “You should eat only when you are hungry.” When a person is hungry then he will relish the simplest of food. The third advice of your father means, “You should have relations with your wife once a month.” In this way a person will get the enjoyment of having a new Nikaah being performed every month. We need to learn Quraan and Hadith from those that learnt from their seniors, who in turn learnt from their seniors, and so forth until we are linked with Sahaaba who learnt from Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. This is termed as Sanad which is a speciality of this Ummat. THE SUPERIORITY OF ISLAMIC KNOWLEDGE We were having a discussion on the visa issue, Maulana Hassan Murchie Saheb of Pietermaritzburg said that our students that recite Quraan Sharif are equivalent to ‘BA.’ We are required to recite Quraan Sharif in a good voice, but we should not sing the Quraan. He then explained that for those that study music and singing, they also acquire a PHD. We have seven Qiraats, seven different modes of recitation. He said, “This is an occasion for us to expose our knowledge and let the world know who we actually are.” A Hafiz student is told to recite in a particular place and he is able to read, if he is told to recite after a couple of pages he is able to recite, they must bring us a PHD or BA graduate that can equal the Hafiz student. The eight year old boy knows all the rules of Tajweed when reciting just as they have rules in music. We haven’t recognised who we actually are, we are suffering from an inferiority complex. In the field of Tafseer, how many Kitaabs don’t we have! How many commentaries have been written on Bukhari Sharif alone! These are great treasures that Allah Ta’ala has given us. We haven’t understood our own value. We regard it necessary for our children to attend university. What we have is actually Ilm. In one book of philosophy, the first chapter states, “Did we create god or did god create us?” In a foreign country, I met a student that was studying history for approximately 25 years. I told him to explain the history of man; he immediately explained Darvins theory of evolution. This is now being taught at pre-school level. Some people came from Makkah Sharif who said that Darvin’s theory of evolution is taught in the schools of Makkah Sharif. I then asked the same student, “How did the world come into existence?” He explained the big bang theory. If I drop a glass on the floor, there is a small bang but the glass breaks. How can there be a big bang and the world comes into existence? THE FUQAHA AND MUHADDITEEN Then came the time of the Fuqaha who extracted from the Quraan and Hadith and presented everything in a plate for us. This is like being invited for meals where lovely Biryani and roast is being served, but you go with your brown bread and Rooibos. We were simply required to attend and eat the food that was prepared for us. The Fuqaha have done the work for us so that we may act upon it, but we want to research all over again. There was a time when the Muhadditeen had to sift out the fabricated and unauthentic narrations from the authentic narrations and how well did they fulfil this duty. The Janaazah of Imaam Abu Hanifa and Imaam Ahmad R.A. left from prison cells. Why? They sacrificed their lives for the protection of Deen. The Ulema are sacrificing up until this day. They are not being paid for their sacrifices. Their salaries are merely for them to live as they are also human beings that have needs as other human beings. If our intention is to acquire wealth, we should adopt some other occupation. Studying the knowledge of Deen is not for acquiring wealth. We should encourage our youngsters to study as well. In previous times one would experience great difficulties in becoming a Hafiz. Nowadays, the youngsters are becoming Huffaz with ease, and they are graduating as good Huffaz and reciting correctly with Tajweed. In previous times, one would have to go to India to be an Alim. What difficult conditions they were subjected to? When I wanted to go and study, my father spoke to Maulana Akhalwaya of Springs who said, “Let him get used to it here first, he will die there.” Today, we have facilities at our doorstep Alhamdulillah, which makes things so much easier for our students to study. The knowledge of Deen is the true knowledge; we should learn Deen, practice Deen, teach and propagate Deen.

A lecture for ladies delivered by Maulana Mohammed Haroon Saheb Rahmatullahi Alaihi at the ocassion of Hajj

My mothers and sisters! Allah Ta’ala has brought us to this place (Makkah Sharif) in order to bless us with His mercies. In this world, no person can give anyone anything as the giver is only Allah Ta’ala. Therefore we’ve got to learn how to come to this place and receive from Allah Ta’ala. The universe has no shortage of humans. However, one is to be a human being and the other is to be a Muslim. Allah Ta’ala wants to see if we are humans or are we Muslims. Everyone can be a human, but we have to become true Muslims by following the Tariqah of our beloved Muhammadur Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, and thereafter we must draw from the treasures of Allah Ta’ala. This lesson should be learnt on this sacred ground, that how does one become a true Muslim and how does one take from Allah Ta’ala. We should not just live our lives as humans as this is not perfection, rather perfection is, that a human becomes a Muslim (one that submits to the will of Allah Ta’ala). How does one attain perfection as a true Muslim? If Allah Ta’ala has forbidden me from looking at a certain thing or looking in a particular place then I will control my eyes and not look, even if it means losing my life in the process. I will not allow my limbs nor my brains to be used wrongly. When a person reaches this stage, then he is not just a human but he is a Muslim. In today’s times we only see humans, we do not see Muslims. Why is this so? This is because we are involved in various acts of wrong with the eyes, tongue, ears, hands, feet, etc. Why are these limbs being used wrongly? This is because we have become oblivious of the fact that these limbs are going to testify against us on the day of Qiyaamah for using them in acts of sin. If we have conviction, that we will be held accountable for our wrong, we will never use them wrongly in acts of sin. It is stated that on the day of Qiyamah, one’s mouth will be sealed and all his limbs will be questioned in regards to the actions that they had carried out. Each limb will give evidence of their actions; the time and place of the action will also be recorded. Each person will be shocked, surprised and helpless with regards to the evidence of the limbs.” My mothers and sisters! Think and ponder over this. One day we all have to die, did we use our limbs as Muslims? If so, then they will give evidence in favour of us. If we used our limbs as humans only, then they will give evidence against us. On the day of Qiyamah, Allah Ta’ala will question us, where and how did you earn, and where and how did you spend your wealth? Allah Ta’ala will say, “I had blessed you with a valuable life without you having to pay for it, how did you spend it?” On the day of Qiyamah, no human will be of assistance to another. Our sons, daughters, husband, wife, parents, brothers and sisters for whom we discarded the Sunnat will not be able to help us. Instead they will give evidence against us. These are not fairy-tales but I can prove it from the Quraan and Hadith. On the day of Qiyamah, a father will remind his son of all the favours he showered upon him. The father will ask the son for only one of his deeds so that he may be able to enter Jannah. The son will reply, “I need that deed for myself, rather transfer your deeds to me, so that I may enter Jannah.” The father will say to his son, “I have spent so much money in pleasing you, on your wedding, music, dancing and in so many other forbidden things, so give me your good deeds.” But the son will continue asking the father for his deeds so that he is able to enter Jannah and he will be prepared to let his father go to Jahannam or be destroyed. My mothers and sisters! Please think and be very concerned about this, as a very fearful scene is to appear before us soon. Once a person is lowered into the grave, nobody really worries about him. We have seen so many men, women and children that have left this world, and after a while nobody cries for them, nor thinks much of them regularly. If one’s mother has passed away, then the maximum that a person will cry on her demise is perhaps two or three years. Therefore every individual, male or female, young or old, have to make their lives constructive whilst they have the opportunity in the world. For this a person will have to worry, have concern and ponder over his life. If a person does not want to make his life a constructive one then he may carry on fulfilling his desires and enjoying himself, there isn’t any difference between him and animals. Yes, the only possible difference between him and the animals will be, that he will be wearing clothes whilst animals do not wear clothes. For such people it is stated, أولئك كالانعام بل هم اضل- أولئك هم الغافلون They are like animals nay more misguided – they are unmindful   Nothing enters the grave with a person, except a person’s actions. Hazrat Umar Radiallahu Anhu said, “The Kafn (shroud) required to cover the body is only needed until the grave, so that the body is not exposed, if this was not the case, then even the shroud was not needed.” A persons wife will remove all his valuables at the time of his death and if she is reminded of all her husband’s favours on her, that he worked so hard for her so she should leave at least one valuable item on him, she will reply, “These things will be of no help to him except his A’amal.” So my mothers and sisters! As I have said, it is no perfection to be only a human, it is important to be a Muslim. Therefore the Adhaan (the call to prayer) is made from the Masjid five times daily. The call is, “Come to make your life a valuable one at the Masjid, and not in your business.” If one ever becomes successful with his business or any other material thing then it will be temporary, be it wealth or ruler-ship. My mothers and sisters! If you have wealth, then do not be deceived by thinking that Allah Ta’ala is pleased with you, and therefore He has given you wealth. Allah Ta’ala gave wealth to, Qaroon, Firawn, Namrud and many others but they were unsuccessful. It is Allah Ta’ala’s choice to bless whomsoever He wishes with wealth but it is not a sign of success. On the other hand, a pauper may be successful in the court of Allah Ta’ala.  Ebrahim Alaihis Salaam was thrown into the fire but Allah Ta’ala granted him success. Why? Allah Ta’ala does not attach success and progress to material things but success is attached to one’s deeds and actions, if one’s deeds and actions are correct then Allah Ta’ala will make a person successful, and on the contrary, if they are evil then Allah Ta’ala will make him unsuccessful. If a person is living in a shack, he is eating dry bread and water, he is wearing patched clothes but his actions are correct, Allah Ta’ala will make him successful. On the other hand if a person is a millionaire and his deeds, action and Yaqeen is incorrect, Allah Ta’ala will make him unsuccessful. This is the rule of Allah Ta’ala. Our rules change daily, whereas the rule of Allah Ta’ala does not change. The rules which Allah Ta’ala has established were brought to mankind by the Ambiya Alaihis Salaam and will remain forever. The area where Baytullah is located today is the area where many sacrifices were made by Ebrahim Alaihis Salaam, his wife, his child, and due to their sacrifices, thousands of years have passed yet Haj is still being performed. So many people have a hearty desire to come to Baytullah, whether rich or poor. Once Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam told Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar Radiallahu Anhuma, “Allah has sent Salaams to you.” Today nobody receives Salaams from Allah Ta’ala, why? Because these are the people that sacrificed, they were taught by Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam to build their Yaqeen (conviction) that Allah Ta’ala does not make a man successful on the basis of material wealth. Therefore they did not waste their energies making an effort on their wealth, land or country. The Sahaaba Radiallahu Anhum made an effort on their Aa’maal and on their Imaan. The result of their sacrifice is that they are all sleeping peacefully in their graves and thousands visit their graves and recognise them as the ones that sacrificed, the ones that simplified their lives, sacrificed their domestic affairs, and sacrificed their wealth and lives for the sake of Allah Ta’ala and His Rasul Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. These were the people that told Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam, “Ya Rasulullah! The wealth and life which is spent according to your teachings is better and more beloved than the wealth and life which remains at home.” My mothers and sisters! These pious elders sacrificed in this manner, and as a result the angels descended for them and the doors of Hidayat were opened for them. Today, if we want Hidayat and help from Allah Ta’ala then we should make an effort in the same manner as well. These promises are not restricted to the Ambiya Alaihis Salaam or to Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam himself or the Sahaaba Radiallahu Anhum but it is for mankind until the day of Qiyamah. It is Allah Ta’ala’s decision that whoever will sacrifice will attain success. My mothers and sisters! You have been created for the benefit of the entire universe. Why have you attended this program? Not because of your husband, brothers or sons but you are sitting here for the Hidayat of the whole universe. You are responsible for all the human beings which are to be born until the day of Qiyamah. By Allah! If Nabi-e-Paak Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam never sacrificed then there wouldn’t have been any Muslim, Ka’aba, Masjid-un-Nabawi, nor would there have been any people to perform Salaah or Haj. It is because of his sacrifices that we are seeing all this in front of us today. My mothers and sisters! There is just one request which we wish to present before you! That is to become a representative of Imaan. May Allah Ta’ala save us from that day, when people will come here from different corners of the world to attain wealth, goods, country or ruler-ship. May the servants of Allah Ta’ala come here to take Imaan, A’amal-e-Saleha and the work of Da’wat. My mothers and sisters! You have a great responsibility upon you. Think and ponder, what is this responsibility? It is the concern, that how will we face Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam? Allah forbid, if a man or woman passes away without attaining the Kalimah or Imaan, how will he face Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam? Therefore, do not sit complacently, go out and you will witness how many people are leaving this world without even knowing the Kalimah, without knowing Allah Ta’ala and His Rasul Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Whose responsibility is this? This responsibility lies with every man and woman. We have to teach Deen, Imaan, Sunnats and the pain and grief of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam to the masses. We have to teach them that one day we will all have to die and because of this, one has to prepare by learning and thereafter practising.  So think of this and make a Niyyat (intention) to prepare your men folk for it, just as you work on your men folk to buy you new clothes, shoes and jewellery to attend a wedding, work on them for this too. There is a true incident that I wish to narrate to you, a certain woman was invited to a wedding but she did not have a new outfit for the wedding. She made her husband go and buy her material at night. She sewed the outfit throughout the night and at Fajr time she showed her husband a complete outfit. Nowadays husbands are subjected to their wives, wives are not subjected to their husbands. The husband acts on the instructions of the wife. Therefore tell your husband’s to go and seek Imaan, otherwise we will all be questioned on the day Qiyamah. We should learn and seek Imaan so that we may all leave the world with Imaan and become Allah Ta’ala’s, we should make a Niyyah for this and work towards it. My mothers and sisters! With an aching heart, let me be honest in informing you that from Baytullah and Baytur Rasool, the place where the first winds of Imaan, Akhlaaq and Hidayat once blew, from these very same places, televisions and radios are being purchased by the Hujjaj and taken home. This is a concern, in fact a responsibility that lies on our shoulders. This pain and concern should be within us, that is, all these people who are coming here should leave with Imaan and Yaqeen. We have received news from India stating that a ship has been standing at customs for three days due to the number of televisions and radios purchased. My mothers and sisters! Start kitaab reading at home. We do not have to conduct three hours of kitaab reading, we can start with five or ten or fifteen minutes, but it should be done daily. Request your husband’s for permission to start, surely they will permit you to conduct Ta’lim in the home. If you women start, other ladies will follow suite, the whole Makkah Sharif will start, when the work starts in the whole of Makkah Sharif, then it will spread throughout the whole world. Everything starts from Makkah Sharif. If Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam’s Aa’maal become alive in Makkah Sharif then they will become alive in the whole world. Therefore make intention of starting Kitaab reading, even for a little while, and if nobody is prepared to join you, sit alone. You should also make intention of completing your daily Zikr, reciting Quraan Sharif, and being punctual with Salaah. Do not waste time! It is wrong to think that one has completed her deeds for the day, so the remaining time can be spent in gossiping. What is the result of such attitude, my mothers and sisters? Whatever few good deeds we were able to carry out, we give it to those whom we backbitten about and in return we have taken the burden of all their sins upon us. Will this ever make sense? Therefore, after carrying out all our good actions such as Ta’leem, Tasbihaat, Tilawat, etc. we should sit and ponder on what good and bad actions we have done for the day? Maulana Muhammed Ilyaas Saheb Rahmatullahi Alaihi used to say, “Take stock of yourself, if you were blessed with the ability of carrying out good deeds, then thank Allah Ta’ala and if you have committed any evil, then ask Allah Ta’ala for forgiveness.” My mothers and sisters we will make Dua, O’ Allah forgive our sins, faults and mistakes. O’ Allah bless us with Your love and Your connection. O’ Allah accept everyone’s coming, accept this gathering of ours. O’ Allah make us a cause of making Imaan and Hidayat alive. O’ Allah all those who have come here, bless them with correct Imaan, Yaqeen and pain and grief for it. O’ Allah open the doors of Hidayat, wipe out all branches of falsehood, make Imaan alive, and make alive all branches of Imaan, all branches of Hidayat. O’ Allah all those friends who have asked us to make Dua for them or written for Duas or they have hopes of our Duas, fulfil all their necessary and permissible desires. O’ Allah save all Muslims from all difficulties, calamities, problems and illnesses. O’ Allah help the debtors to pay their debts, release those that are in bondage. O’ Allah accept these Duas of ours. A lecture for ladies delivered by Maulana Mohammed Haroon Saheb Rahmatullahi Alaihi (Son of Amir ut Tabligh Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Khandhalwi Rahmatullahi Alaihi) 2 ZulHijjah 1392 At Madrasah Saulatiyya Makkah Mukarramah   ADVICES A servants illness is sins, the treatment is, Istighfaar. One that reads 4 Rakaats Sunnat Mu’akkada before Zuhr Salaah is forgiven of all his sins committed for the day. The advices of Haji Ahmed Nakhooda Saheb of Madinah Munawwarah

The advices of Haji Ahmed Nakhooda Saheb of Madinah Munawwarah  Hajee Ahmed Nakhooda Saheb D.B. of Madiinah Munawwarah was with us and shared some extremely valuable points. Firstly he mentioned that people do not want to take Bay’at to a Sheikh and become a Mureed. A person cannot be forced to become a Mureed. He then mentioned that there are other ways of making Islaah of people. One way is by encouraging people and at the end of the talk, that is make Tashkeel of the listeners to recite Durood Sharif and follow Sunnat. By doing so, the Isaah of a person will be made directly by Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam and one will reach the highest pinnacle of Wilaayat (friendship of Allah Ta'ala). No person can ever have an objection to recitation of Durood and following Sunnats. Hajee Saheb asked Hadrat Sheikh R.A. whether this is true? Hadrat Sheikh R.A replied, “This is 100% percent true but such a person will not be able to make Islaah of others.” The second advise for those that don’t want to take a Sheikh is to recite the Kitaab at home. We should read the Fadhaail-e-Aamaal and Fadhaail-e-Sadaqaat of Hadrat Sheikh R.A. which is accepted by Allah Ta'ala. There are many people that have seen dreams that whichever homes these Kitaabs are recited then Nur (light) from the Arsh of Allah Ta'ala descend upon such places. If one has acquired the Nur of Allah Ta'ala then what else is required? The Islaah of a person is also completely made by reading this Kitaab and such a person will reach the high stages of Wilaayat. Many people have changed their lives due to Kitaab reading. The daughter of a  pious person who was regular with his Salaah starting working. She got different ideas and brought a TV in the house. He was really upset but the wife also sided with the children and approved of the TV. She further wanted a modern lifestyle and when the husband prevented them, they asked him to leave the house after giving them their respective shares of their inheritance (from his wealth). He decided to write to Hadrat Sheikh R.A. and explained the entire scenario. Hadrat R.A told him to start Taleem in the house for ten minutes and not to interfere in their lives. When he approached the family they were quite happy as giving ten minutes for Taleem was a bargain. In a matter of few days he came home and found the TV broken and thrown outside. How many such people have read the Kitaabs of Hadrat Sheikh R.A. and our Sheikh R.A. and changed their lives completely. There are friends and associates that don’t want to listen to the talks of Deen. For such people, a practice tested and tried by our Sheikh which works wonders; merely send a Kitaab to them without even instructing them to read it. There are many professional people that opened the Kitaabs of Hadrat Sheikh R.A. and state that they continued reading without being able to close it as a result of which the lives, minds and hearts of people had changed. This is also an effective method of Islaah. Another aspect that Hajee Saheb has emphasised was Tauba, Istighfaar and Durood Sharif. We should commence with at least ten times Taubah, Istighfaar and Durood. This should be carried out with punctuality and gradually increase the numbers as well. The quality of the recitation is of utmost importance even more than increasing the numbers. If a person is taking ten empty capsules but then increases it to hundred empty capsules then one will not benefit. If a person takes the ten capsules but inserts 5mg of contents and then gradually increases the contents to 10mg then he will certainly see a great difference.      May Allah Ta'ala grant us the Taufeeq!

Advices for the month of Ramadaan Vol 2

Ramadhan advices by  Moulana Abdul Hamid Saheb Daamat Barkaatuhum We should beg Allah Ta’ala for forgiveness at the end of every action whether Salaah, Fasting, etc. Salaah and fasting are not acts of sin yet we seek forgiveness as we are unable to carry out these actions as we ought to. Allah Ta’ala praises the Sahaaba in the Quraan who would seek forgiveness at the time of Tahajjud. Mulla Ali Qari R.A. has written, “When Istighfaar benefits the Kuffar, then will it not benefit the pious believers?” Certainly it will! Allah Ta’ala does not only forgive wholesale but he even converts our evil deeds into good deeds. Allah Ta’ala forgives in great abundance as He is “Gafoor-ul-Wadood” (Most Forgiving and Most loving). Due to His excessive love for his creation he forgives. Time is abstract therefore we regard it to be insignificant. We should ponder over the importance of time. Allah Ta’ala has also created the measurement of time which is another bounty. We have 12 months in a year, 30 days per month, 24 hrs per day. Without these measurements we wouldn’t have known that it is Ramdaan. The person that does not value time is certainly in loss. Many people pass time in Ramdaan. In reality they are failing time. Look after the seconds and the minutes will look after themselves. Look after the minutes and the hours will look after themselves. Look after the hours and the days will look after themselves. We complain of no Barakah in time which is the consequence of wasting time. The Hadith states, “The day announces to every individual on a daily basis, I have come to you once in your life therefore you should carry out whatever good deeds you are able to carry out and abstain from all forms of evil. Do not spoil this day” Many people have sought forgiveness for their sins. Did anyone ever seek forgiveness for the time wasted in one’s life? People fall ill and lose their health. Many lose their wealth but then recoup their losses. Time is such a commodity that if lost it can never be regained. How many people want to pass time in the month of Ramdaan whereas there isn’t sufficient time to carry out the basic Ibaadaat. A supplication of Hadrat Ibrahim n is recorded in the Quraan, “Do not disgrace me on the Qiyaamah. A day when neither wealth nor children will benefit one, except a person that comes to Allah Ta’ala with a sound heart.” We visit the doctors to check our cholesterol levels, sugar levels, good fats, bad fats, etc. We should carry out an open heart surgery in order to check the condition of our heart.    If we realise that we are spiritually ill we should consult with the spiritual doctors who are known as the Mashaaikh. The first sign of a healthy heart is that a person spends his wealth in good causes. If a person finds it difficult to spend his wealth in good causes but is prepared to spend his wealth in luxuries and entertainment then this is a sign of an unhealthy heart. The second sign of a healthy heart is that a person will guide his children towards acts of virtue. (He will give them Deen) The third sign of a healthy heart is that the heart is free of all corrupt beliefs such as superstition, bad luck, etc. The fourth sign of a healthy heart is that it is not overpowered by lust and desire to such an extent that it takes one towards Jahannam. The fifth sign of a healthy heart is that it is void of all things except Allah Ta’ala. We generally think that we have Deen in our lives because we dress in Islamic attire (i.e. Kurta, Topi, beard, etc.) Islamic attire will not suffice when the heart of a person is spiritually ill.
