When Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) will be pleased with you, Allah Ta'ala will be pleased with you.

A very senior Aalim, who was himself a Khalifah of Hazrat Shaikh Zakariyya (Rahimahullah), approached Hazrat Shaikh Yunus Jonpuri (Rahimahullah) and said, "Hazrat, I feel as though Allah is displeased with me. Please show me a way for Allah to be pleased."
Hazrat Shaikh Yunus (Rahimahullah) began to weep and said, "Who am I, to reconnect you with Allah? i am a lowly person.
The Aalim insisted, "Hazrat, please show me a way. You are well versed with the Ahaadith, and Allah has blessed you with knowledge and Taqwa.
Hazrat Sheikh replied, "What I understand is, if you please Rasulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam), Allah will be pleased."
The Aalim asked, "Hazrat, how do I do that?" He replied, "Do two things.".
1) Send abundat Durood on Raulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam).
2.) Look and activelty search for the Sunnah of Raulullah (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and practice on them. Even when you don't feel the need, still follow his Sunnat. For example, even if you are not thirsty, intentionally sit down to drink water just to follow the Nabi (alayhis salaam)'s Sunnah.
Do these two things, and Insha allah, Allah Ta'ala will become pleased with you.
He said that in the Quran, Allah has said: "Say, [O Muhammad], 'If you truly love Allah, then follow me. Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.'" (Quran 3:31)
Then, that Aalim returned after one month, overjoyed. He came, kissed Sheikh's hand, and said, "Hazrat! Allah is pleased with me."
Sheikh Yunus (Rahimahullah) asked, "How? And how do you know that Allah is pleased? And how did you know before that Allah was unhappy?"
The Aalim replied, " Previously, I couldn't focus my heart in Salaah, nor did I feel any joy in remembering Allah (Zikr). My heart just felt distant and restless. I felt very uneasy."
"Now Allah is pleased. I can focus in my Salaah, I feel connected when remembering Allah, and best of all, a few days ago, Hazrat Nabi Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wasallam) came into my dream and said, 'Go, for I am pleased with you.'..."
