ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم قال : قد أفلح من أخلص قلبه للإيمان وجعل قلبه سليما ولسانه صادقا ونفسه مطمئنة وخليقته مستقيمة وجعل إذنه مستمعة وعينه ناظرة فأما الإذن فقمع والعين بمقرة لما يوعى القلب وقد افلح من جعل قلبه واعيا

Hadrat Abu Hurairah R.A. narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “The person whose heart Allah Ta’ala has made purely for Imaan has attained success, and his heart has been kept safe from hatred, jealousy, and all forms of evil characteristics and habits, and his tongue has been made truthful (in speech), his heart is at ease, his soul and temperament has been created straight (it does not incline towards falsehood and crookedness, his ears listen to the truth and his eyes look at the proofs that indicate towards the oneness of Allah Ta’ala, the ear is a funnel, the eyes establish that which the heart protects , and certainly successful is that person whose heart has been made the protector of the truth.”

Allah Ta’ala has caused his heart to be at ease means that he has been granted peace and tranquillity through the Zikr of Allah. The ear has been resembled to a funnel as it is a means of conveying the truth which is heard (via the ears) to the heart. The eyes are also like a funnel as there are those things that indicate towards the oneness of Allah Ta’ala but can only be sensed with the eyes and thereafter the message is conveyed to the heart. Successful is that person whose heart has been made a protector, by listening and seeing the proofs of Tauheed the reality of it reaches the heart and is protected by the heart, such a person is successful.
