Greed for wealth

Hadrat Ka’ab ibn Maalik R.A. narrates from his father that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “Two hungry wolves that have been let lose on a flock of sheep will not cause as much harm as the greed for wealth and fame causes to a person’s Deen

The greed for wealth and honour/fame causes the human being to become negligent of Allah Ta'ala. If one has to carefully analyse the reason for destruction of any person’s Deen, it will be either one of these two factors (i.e. greed for wealth and fame).

The reason for the destruction of Shaytaan was his greed for honour. The love for fame prevented him from prostrating before Adam A.S. as a result of which he was rejected. Qaa’roon was lead astray due to his love for wealth. The solution to both these problems is presenting oneself in the company of the Buzurgs, informing them of your condition and acting according to their advices for a considerable period of time. It is an act of sin and misguidance to regard a person that is not punctual upon Shariat and does not follow the Sunnat as a Buzurg.
