Dua One – Dua of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (radhiyallahu anhuma) reports that Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “The best dua is the dua made on the Day of Arafah, and the best dua which I recited, and the Ambiyaa (Alayhimus salaam) before me, is (the following):
There is none worthy of worship besides Allah, who is Alone and has no partner. To Him alone belongs the kingdom, and to Him alone belongs all praise, and He has complete power over everything. (Sunan Tirmizi #3585)
Dua Two – Dua of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “In Arafah, the dua which I, and the Ambiyaa (alayhimus salaam) before me, made the most, was:
There is none worthy of worship besides Allah, who is alone and has no partner. To Him alone belongs the kingdom and to Him alone belongs all praise, and He has complete power over everything. O Allah! Place noor (divine radiance) in my heart, and place noor in my hearing, and place noor in my sight! O Allah! Expand for me my chest (i.e. bless me with understanding and capability) and make my affairs easy for me! I seek Your protection from the (evil) whispers of the heart, from my affairs becoming disrupted and from the punishment of the grave! O Allah! I seek Your protection from the evil which enters in the night, the evil which enters in the day, the evil which the winds blow, and the evil of natural calamities. (As Sunanul Kubra #9475)
Dua Three – Dua of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu anhu) reports, “The dua which Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) made the most on the late-afternoon of Arafah in the place of wuqoof was:
O Allah! To You alone belongs all praise, as we have expressed Your praise, and better than we can express Your praise! O Allah! For You alone is my salaah, my ibaadah, my life and my death, and to You alone is my (eventual) return, and all my assets belong to you. O Allah! I seek Your protection from the punishment of the grave, the (evil) whispers of the heart, and from my affairs breaking up and being in disarray! O Allah! I seek Your protection from the evil which the wind brings! (Sunan Tirmizi #3520)
Dua Four – Dua of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbaas (radhiyallahu anhuma) said, “Among the duas which Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) made in his hajj on the late-afternoon of Arafah was:
‘O Allah! Indeed, You hear my speech and You see my place (where I am), You know what I conceal and what I reveal. None of my affairs are hidden from You. I am the one who is desperate (for Your mercy), the needy one, the one who is crying out for help, the one who is seeking refuge, the fearful one, the one who is in awe (of You), the one who confesses and admits his sins. I beg of You the begging of the destitute, and I implore You the imploring of the disgraceful sinner. I call onto You the calling of the fearful afflicted person, the one whose neck is lowered (in submission) before You, whose eyes pour out tears before You, whose body is humbled and whose nose is soiled in dust before You. O Allah! Do not make me a deprived one in my dua to You. Be kind and merciful to me. O the Best of those who are asked, and O the Best of those who grant.’” (Al Mu’jamul Kabeer #11405)
Dua Five – Dua of Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam)
When making wuqoof in Arafah on the 9th, one should recite the following zikr one hundred times:
There is no deity besides Allah Ta’ala who is alone, He has no partner. To Him belongs the kingdom (of the entire universe), and only to Him belongs all praise, and He alone has complete power over everything.
Thereafter, one should recite Surah Ikhlaas (Qul Huwallah) one hundred times, followed by the following durood one hundred times:
O Allah Ta’ala! Shower Your special mercy upon Hazrat Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam), just as You have showered Your special mercy upon Nabi Ebrahim (alayhis salaam) and the household of Nabi Ebrahim (alayhis salaam), indeed You are Most-Praiseworthy, Most-Glorious, and (shower Your special mercies) upon us with them.
Hazrat Jaabir (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Hazrat Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) mentioned that during the afternoon of Arafah, when any Muslim stands in the place of wuqoof, while facing the direction of the qiblah, and he recites the abovementioned azkaar, then Allah Ta’ala says:
“O My angels! What is the reward for My servant for reciting this? He has glorified Me, testified to My oneness, mentioned My greatness, honoured Me, recognised Me, praised Me and sent salutations upon My Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). You bear witness, O My angels, that I have forgiven him and granted him the honour of intercession, and if he interceded on behalf of all these people standing here, I would accept his intercession.” (Shu’abul Imaan #3780)
Dua Six – Dua of Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu anhu)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ood (radhiyallahu anhu) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever recites the following (praise of Allah Ta’ala) on the afternoon of Arafah, then so long as he is not making dua for something sinful or for the severance of family ties, his dua will be accepted:
Glory be to the One whose throne is in the sky! Glory be to the One whose dominion is in the earth! Glory be to the One whose path is in the ocean! Glory be to the One whose decree is (upon those) in the graves! Glory be to the One whose mercy is in Jannah! Glory be to the One whose rule is over Jahannum! Glory be to the One whose breeze blows in the sky! Glory be to the One raised the sky! Glory be to the One who put the ground in its place! Glory be to the One from whom no refuge can be sought, except through turning to Him! (Al Mu’jamul Kabeer #10554)
Dua Seven – Dua of Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu anhu)
It is reported that Hazrat Ali (radhiyallahu anhu) would make the following dua on the day of Arafah and encouraged some of his companions to make the same dua:
O Allah! Free my neck from the fire of Jahannum, bless me with abundant halaal sustenance, and repel from me the evil and transgressive jinn and people. (Lataaiful Ma’aarif pg. 284)
