A Dua Requesting Allah's Pardon

اَللّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيْمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّى

A DUA REQUESTING ALLAH Ta’ala’S PARDON

اَللّهُمَّ اِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ كَرِيْمٌ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّى

ALLAHUMMAA INNAKA AFUWWOON KAREEMUN

TUHIBBUL AFWA FA’FUANNI

O Allah! Verily You are most forgiving, most kind,

You love forgiveness thus forgive me.

This is Dua that was given to Hadrat Aisha Radiallahu Anha upon her enquiry from Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam , that if she were to find Lailatul Qadr, what Dua should be recited. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam  replied that the above Dua should be recited in abundance.

The forgiveness of Allah Ta’ala is so great, that on the day of Qiyaamah, Shaytaan will also get hope of attaining the forgiveness of Allah Ta’ala. This will be the state of the mercy of Allah Ta’ala. On the day of Qiyaamah, Allah Ta’ala will take certain people’s cases “in camera”, so that nobody else will know of the sins and faltering of that person. Allah Ta’ala will then highlight all the minor sins of that person. This person will have to Alibi, or excuse, and will admit to his sins, and after admitting to his sins, he will beg Allah Ta’ala to forgive him and have mercy on him. Allah Ta’ala’s reply will be that all his sins have been forgiven, not only have his sins been forgiven, but all his sins will be converted to good deeds.

After having experienced Allah’s mercy, the person will quickly add that he had not only committed these minor sins, but he has many major sins that were committed as well.
