اَلّْٰلهُمَّ حَاسِبْنَا حِسَابًا يَّسِيْرًا
Oh Allah! Make our reckoning easy
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam would make this Dua excessively towards the end of his life. Aisha Radiallahu Anha enquired from Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, “What is easy reckoning?” Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam replied that Allah Ta’ala does not take any Hisaab (reckoning). Allah Ta’ala will give the person his book of deeds without any questioning and he will be on his way to Jannat. On the other hand, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “Whoever’s deed of records are checked will be punished as nobody possesses a clear book.”
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has taught the wealthy and the poor to make this Dua. The poor of today are also regarded as wealthy in comparison to the poor of previous times. We can then imagine how wealthy the rich are, all of us have to give reckoning for our actions.
In the Quraan Sharif, Allah Ta’ala says,
ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ
Thereafter, on the day of Qiyamah you will defnetly be questioned about the bounties (which Allah Ta’ala has given you).
On one occasion, Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, Hadrat Abu BakrRadiallahu Anhu and Hadrat UmarRadiallahu Anhu went to the home of Abu Ayub Ansari Radiallahu Anhu in a state of extreme hunger. Hadrat Abu Ayub Ansari Radiallahu Anhu hosted them with some dates, rice and meat which they had partaken of. Thereafter Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam recited the above verse of the Quraan Sharif.
By making the above Dua, we will get away cheap and easy. We should make the above Dua regularly, which is short and simple.
