The bounty of good health and cold water

Hadrat Abu Hurairah R.A narrates that Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam is reported to have said, “The first thing that a servant will be questioned for on the day of Qiyaamah pertains to the bounties (of Allah Ta'ala), for which he will be asked, “Did we not bless you with (good) health and did we not quench your thirst with cold water?”

Good health and cold water is a great bounty of Allah Ta'ala. Hajee Imdaadullah Saheb R.A said, “Miya Ashraf Ali, when you drink water, drink cold water so that you express gratitude to Allah Ta'ala.” One king was thirsty in the jungle. Allah Ta'ala sent an angel or a pious person who offered him a glass of water. The angel or pious person asked the king, “How will you compensate me for the water?” The king said, “I am prepared to give you half my kingdom.” After drinking the water his urine became blocked. The angel or pious man again said, “I will cure you but what will the compensation be?” The king said, “The remainder of my kingdom.” After curing him, he said, “Now understood the value of your country and kingdom and don’t ever be proud.” (Mazaahir-e-Haq)
