Boasting of one's wealth

Hadrat Mutrif narrates from his father (who says) that I came to the gathering of Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam whilst he was reciting Surah Takathur ((أَلْهَاكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُ) which means, O people! Because of your boasting amongst each other of your increase in wealth you have become negligent of the hereafter, meaning because of your boasting of excessive wealth the fear of the hereafter hasn’t remained in your heart.) Then Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam  said, the son of Adam keeps saying my wealth, my wealth, whereas the reality is that you will only get that much which you have eaten and spoiled, or worn and torn, or spent and stored for the Aakhirat. (Muslim)

A person becomes negligent of the hereafter due to his concern of increasing his wealth as a result of which the leader of a foreign country and pauper of the hereafter becomes even poor. What can be greater foolishness than this? May Allah Ta’ala save us all!
