Mother

EHK MA KEHNA SE MILTAHE SUKOON

I ATTAIN TRANQUILITY WHEN I UTTER “MA”

DOOR HO JAHTE HE DUNYA BHAR KE AFKAAR ZABOON

ALL MY WORLDS’ USELESS CONCERNS ARE REMOVED

The goodness, blessings and success of the universe depends on pious mothers. Jannat lies beneath the feet of the mother. A mother is a great being of this world, who gave birth to Ambiyaa Alaihimus Salaam. It is the restless concern of a mother that inhabited the centre of Hidayat (Baitullah), through her motherly love and Tawakkul (trust in Allah Ta’ala). Who was she? Hajar Alaihas Salaam.

Allah Ta’ala has kept all the treasures of chastity, honour, purity, nobility and gentleness, in a mother. Whether it is a king, a poor man, a pious person, a sinner, a Sheikh (spiritual guide) or a Mureed (disciple) they are all in need of her pleasure. The poet of the east Allamah Muhammed Iqbal says,

“My belief is that the legend of a nation is greatly protected by the nation’s mothers.”

“Um,” means, a mother who nurtures children and “Ummat,” means, who is nurtured by a Messenger. If there were no mothers or if motherly love and urges were not present, then the flowing stream or river of life will come to an end.

“In reality you (mother) are a nation’s navigator because you are the merciful mother of the new generation.”

A mother who undergoes difficulties for her children, the rewards she is accumulating, Islam explains it thus,

“A mother who stays awake at night with an ailing child, she will receive the reward of freeing seventy slaves.”

The continuance of the human race is because of a mother. Therefore protection of a mothers’ honour is from the actions of Islam.

Rasulullah Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,

“Innallaha Harrama Alaikum Uququl Ummahaat.”

“Allah Ta’ala has forbidden you the disobedience of mothers.”

Listen to a very touching story of a mother’s honour. A discussion was taking place in the gathering of Allahmah Iqbal (the poet of the east).

A cat gave birth to kittens in Masjid-e-Nabawi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam. The Sahaba Radiallahu Anhuma wanted to protect the Masjid from getting dirty, so they wanted to hit the cat and chase it out of the Masjid. Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam told them,

“Do not hit her, as she has become a mother.”

When Allahmah heard this, he cried and continually asked, what did Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam say? He would repeat the words,

“Do not hit her, she has become a mother.”

This crying prevailed for approximately forty five minutes. Allahu-Akbar! What a great honour has the “Uswa-e-Hasana” of Nabi Salallahu Alaihi Wasallam  set out for mothers.

At the time of creating the universe, Allah Ta’ala decided that a human will need some comfort. Therefore Allah Ta’ala created mothers, in order that this human will have a “mothers lap” to attain the comfort he needs and nowhere else. If your mother is still alive then you are very fortunate, use the opportunity to attain your Jannat, by serving and honouring mothers, they can beautify your Jannat. If there is some unfortunate person who has hurt this pure being (mother) and he has passed away without repenting, then know that he is unfortunate in this world and the hereafter.

A very touching plea of a young boy whose mother passed away:

میری امی کو بلا دے کوئی، ورنہ مجھے ہئ سلادے کوئی

Meri Ammikobulade koi, Warnamujhe hi sulaade koi.

Bring my mother back, please somebody, otherwise put me to sleep with her.

Mujhebistarkiaadat hi nahi, apnigodi me jhulade koi

I am not used to a bed, take me in your lap and swing me.

Shaayad ke wo aajaaie meraa rona soon kar.

Maybe she will come back hearing me crying.

Mujhe be wajah hi roolade koi.

Make me cry for no reason.

I haven’t eaten for many days, give me to eat with her love.

Mujhe kaahish nahi ke mile dunia mujhe.

I am not desirous of this world.

Bas meri Ammi se milade koi.

Just get me to meet my mother.
